Mr. Ni is the President of Wanxiang America Corporation, the company he started in 1994. Under his leadership, the company’s revenue grew from zero to about $4 billion, with operations spanning automotive, clean energy, and real estate across 27 U.S. states. He was honored as “The Most Influential Business Person of the Year” by the China General Chamber of Commerce – U.S.A. in 2016, and in 2019 received the Blue Cloud Award from the China Institute for his achievements as a “Bridge Builder” between China and the United States.
Mr. Ni is active in community service and serves in several leadership and advisory roles, including vice chair of the China General Chamber of Commerce – USA (CGCC-USA), board director of World Business Chicago, member of the Northwestern University Board of Trustees, member of the Advisory Board of the RAND Center for Asia Pacific Policy, board director of the Chicago Council on Global Affairs, and board director of The Nature Conservancy Illinois Chapter.
He holds a bachelor’s degree and an MBA from Zhejiang University and has also studied in the PhD program in the Department of Economics at the University of Kentucky.

Co-Founder and Managing Member
He is the founder and Managing Member of Sagent Group. He has over 20 years of finance, mergers and acquisition and capital markets experience. Previously, Mr. Lee founded Oaktree’s private lending platform and was the portfolio manager of the firm’s $6 billion Strategic Credit strategy. While at Oaktree, he served in a number of leadership roles and was a member of the firm’s senior executive committee. He also served as the CEO of two publicly traded corporate lending and specialty finance companies. Before joining Oaktree, Mr. Lee worked within the Investment Banking divisions at UBS Investment Bank in Los Angeles and Lehman Brothers, where he was responsible for advising clients on equity and debt financings and mergers and acquisitions in the technology, media and telecom industries.
Mr. Lee serves on the Board of Directors of several public and private corporations including Neo Performance Materials, Nexus Pharmaceuticals, and Cloud5 Communications. He previously served as a Director of Charter Communications and Nine Entertainment. He also advises a number of non-profits and serves on the Board of Managers of Swarthmore College.
He received a B.A. degree in economics from Swarthmore College and his master’s degree from Harvard University.
